While the summer heat may not initially seem like a concern for Human Resources, it quickly becomes one when considering the loss of productivity and increased absenteeism and injuries that can accompany it. In ensuring the safety of their employees, companies can now access the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) online resource to prevent heat illness. This website offers guidance as well as posters in English and Spanish with reminders to get water, rest, and shade when working outside.
Visit osha.gov/SLTC/heatillness for more information. If one of your employees suffers a heat injury, however minor, obtain proper treatment immediately and contact Nextep at 888-811-5150 as soon as possible afterwards.
